As a result of biotechnology, the beauty space has produced ingredients with better quality control, at higher reliability, and with a lower negative impact on the environment. Products with biotech ingredients often are more effective. 

Additionally, creating ingredients through this process has made it possible to develop and use plant-based versions of otherwise animal-derived ingredients, like in the case of squalane.
